Look and character
With a 1.8x squeeze, the image is optically compressed horizontally by 1.8× and stretched back in post. That gives these desqueezed aspect ratios, by recorded area:
- 16:9 sensor area → 3.20:1
- 3:2 sensor area → 2.70:1
- 4:3 sensor area → 2.40:1
Horizontally, a 28 mm 1.8x lens covers roughly the width of a 16 mm spherical lens on the same format (focal ÷ squeeze); vertically it stays 28 mm.
